Your privacy
What our website and app keep about you, and what they don't. Last updated October 29, 2026.
The short version
We don't sell or share your information, we don't run advertising or tracking tools, and you don't need an account to use our website or app.
What stays on your device
- Saved pets. The pets you heart are kept on your phone or computer, not on our servers.
- Game progress. Humane Games keeps coins and progress on your device.
- App notification choices. Which alerts you turned on in the app.
What we keep
- Humane Games. When you play, we create an anonymous player record (a random ID, no name or email) for scores, saves and Adoptédex cards. A leaderboard shows the name you type for it. You can delete your game data at any time.
- Newsletter sign-ups. If you sign up, we keep your email address to send the newsletter.
- Errors. If a page breaks, it reports the page address and the error message so we can fix it. No personal details are included.
- Standard server logs. Our host, Cloudflare, briefly keeps normal request logs (such as IP address) to run and protect the site.
The Android app's notifications
If you turn on notifications, the app uses Google's Firebase Cloud Messaging. Your phone joins topics such as "New dogs" or a saved pet's updates; we send a message to the topic and never see who is on it. Firebase gives your phone a token to deliver messages, which Google handles under its privacy terms. Turn any of them off under More, then Notifications, or in your phone's settings.
Forms run by our partners
Some things open on our partners' own pages, under their privacy policies:
- Adoption and volunteer applications: Shelterluv, our animal records system.
- Donations, memberships and event tickets: Zeffy.
- Shop orders: Square. We receive your name and email with an order so we can arrange pick-up.
Card details go only to Zeffy or Square, never to us.
Children
Our website and app are for a general audience. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
